thought for the day...

Sometime I realize that I need to buy something - I know, retail therapy, and I know it makes me feel happy only temporarily, but I just can't get past that feeling sometimes. At these times, I have to find a place to get a bargain - so I have regular places where I know I can purchase something and feel good about it - whether it's the grocery store with sale items, or Goodwill or a farmer's market or a used book store or even the library where books are free (they have used books for a nickel at the library near me - now that's a bargain).

I do wish that we had a flea market close to me - but for some reason, this area has never developed the market for them. I miss the great flea markets of CA.

today, is that all there is?

I'm especially interested in bargains - I think everyone likes to get a bargain and save money.
I also think we can help each other by sharing tips and tricks that we have each learned by trial and error.

So here it goes...

I love garage/yard sales, and seem to get the most bargains there. I call them "treasure hunts" and you will surely have some good ones and some not so good ones. I also really like the unique items that you can find at these sales - things that were one of a kind promotional items or things that other folks have handmade. I'm always amazed at the assortment of stuff that a household has collected and the price that they are willing to sell it for. I've been having garage sales and going to flea markets since the 60's - when I remember going to the small flea market in Honolulu when I was a Navy wife. We had very little money then and we loved getting bargains.
